How to apply
Apply for the 2016 SAJF Scholarship to be one of the ten (10) scholarship awardees of JMD$50,000 each. Scholarship application will be open on January 6, 2016 and closed mid-night April 30, 2016.
This, the first annual Soraya Amy Jackson Foundation (SAJF) is directed towards high school seniors entering an accredited college-degree program, who are serious about obtaining education and intends to be an agent of change in Jamaica. Its open to both gender and all completed applications MUST be email to SAJScholarship@gmail.com.
SAJF Scholarship: How to apply?
Eligibility: Jamaican Nationals enrolled or who will be enrolled as first year (freshman) students in any local tertiary institution. The Applicant must submit an essay no more than 300 words to SAJscholarship@gmail.com via email.
Students will be selected for the SAJF scholarship based on several key components:
A completed resume; High School Transcript; Completed application forms with the following documentations; Comprehensive essay responses to the questions below indicating the essay topics; Two (2) letters of recommendation from either teachers or principles.
SAJF Scholarship Essay Topics:
How could you use your college education to create sustainable career opportunities for Jamaicans in order convince our most talented young people to stay and build a future in Jamaica?
What are your visions to make Jamaica better?
Awards will be based on academic performance as evidenced by your high school transcript (at least a GPA of 2.8 if applicable) and/or through verifiable financial need. A panel consisting of the donor will select short-listed candidates. Evidence showing recent volunteer service will be a plus.
Additionally, scholarships and grants may also include but are not limited to sponsoring an entire school, class or individuals, to potentially receive tuition, books, uniform, and transportation. Our ultimate goal is to encourage young Jamaican graduates to stay in the country and make a difference.
